On the banks of the Baztán River, in the valley of the same name in Navarre, the naked body of a teenager appears in circumstances relating it to a murder that occurred a month ago. Inspector Amaia Salazar leads the investigation, which will take her back to the town of Elizondo, where she grew up and from which she has tried to flee her whole life. Faced with the complicated offshoots of the case and her own ghosts, Amaia’s investigation is a race against time to find a relentless killer in a land teeming with superstitions and witchcraft.
